Armenian Court Orders Confiscation of Ex-President Sargsyan's Assets

Armenia's Anti-Corruption Court has ordered the confiscation of assets belonging to former President Serzh Sargsyan and individuals associated with him, including approximately 630 million drams (about $1.7 million) and part of a property in Yerevan.

The court partially upheld a lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General's Office seeking the confiscation of assets allegedly acquired through illicit means, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.

Under the court's ruling, the state will receive a 38% share of an apartment located on Teryan Street in Yerevan, full ownership of one parking space, and a 38% share in another parking space.

Serzh Sargsyan served as Armenia's third president from 2008 to 2018 and held the office of prime minister twice - from 2007 to 2008 and briefly in April 2018.
