Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has warned that the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 2026 will present citizens with a critical choice “between peace and the absence of peace.”
Speaking to journalists after a government meeting, Pashinyan said, “In the upcoming parliamentary elections, the people of Armenia will have to make a choice - I prefer not to frame it as ‘peace and war,’ so I will put it more gently: between peace and the absence of peace. That is why I clearly stated in my recent address that this established peace requires daily attention, and it is a responsibility we must tackle together, each in our own role, including citizens when defining their political positions,” The Caspian Post informs via Armenian media.
The prime minister further underscored Armenia’s ongoing efforts to negotiate and finalize a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, stressing that the country is committed to working “daily - and will continue working” toward this goal.
Pashinyan’s remarks highlight the centrality of peace and security in the political discourse leading up to Armenia’s 2026 parliamentary elections.
