Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the country's judicial system is grappling with "problems that are deeper than we imagine."
He suggested asking the public what they think about the judicial system and trials. "We must address this issue during the process of adopting the new Constitution. We must understand what we mean by judicial independence," Pashinyan said during government hour in parliament on Wednesday, The Caspian Post reports citing Armenian media.
Pashinyan described the lack of an organic connection with the people as a systemic problem. "It is insular. How can this problem be solved? I see the solution in introducing a jury system. There are other ideas that need to be discussed in the context of the new Constitution, regarding the judicial system we dream of, and regarding the state system we dream of. This requires very serious investments," Pashinyan said.
