Russia could suspend natural gas supplies to Armenia from November 1 if Yerevan does not meet a series of political demands.

Moscow is seeking several concessions from the Armenian government, according to Armenia Today.

The reported demands include:

ending discussions concerning Russia’s 102nd military base in Armenia and actions involving Russian-owned companies;

repealing the law launching the process of Armenia’s accession to the European Union or setting a date for a referendum;

ending the prosecution of politicians described by the newspaper as pro-Russian.

Moscow wants Armenia to appoint a deputy prime minister acceptable to the Russian side.

The reports have not been independently confirmed, and neither the Russian nor Armenian authorities have publicly confirmed that Moscow plans to halt gas supplies from November 1.
