Azerbaijan, Bahrain Reinforce Friendship Through Parliamentary Dialogue

Farid Hajiyev, Chief of Staff of Azerbaijan’s Parliament, met with Bahrain’s Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives, Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Sisi Al-Buainain, to discuss ways to strengthen institutional ties and enhance cooperation between the two countries’ parliamentary administrations.

Hajiyev expressed confidence that the visit would further enhance collaboration at the level of parliamentary administrations, The Caspian Post informs via local media.

He emphasized the strong and productive partnership between the legislative bodies of Azerbaijan and Bahrain within various international forums, and discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation, deepening institutional ties, and launching experience-sharing initiatives.

Al-Buainain, for his part, expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and underscored the importance of continued engagement between the parliamentary administrations. He noted that frequent exchanges and collaborative programs play a vital role in reinforcing bilateral ties. Both sides discussed prospects for advancing cooperation across multiple areas of parliamentary affairs.

On the same day, members of the Azerbaijan-Bahrain Interparliamentary Relations Working Group met with the Bahraini delegation at the Milli Majlis. The meeting was chaired by Sabir Hajiyev, who highlighted the solid foundation of bilateral relations, rooted in the friendly and close ties between the two countries' leaders. In his remarks, Secretary-General Al-Buainain noted that 2026 would mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Bahrain. He expressed confidence that the milestone would serve as a springboard for further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Working group members Mashhur Mammadov and Ulviyya Aghayeva also praised the expanding partnership between the two countries, particularly in political, economic, humanitarian, and cultural spheres.

Later in the day, the Bahraini delegation held a meeting with Rustam Mahmudov, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Azerbaijani Parliament, along with heads of several departments.

Mahmudov outlined recent reforms implemented in the Milli Majlis under the leadership of Speaker Sahiba Gafarova, emphasizing efforts to modernize the legislative process. The guests were also introduced to advancements in parliamentary information technologies, including presentations on newly developed digital tools and software platforms designed to enhance legislative efficiency.
