The 25th session of the Law Enforcement and Customs Chiefs Committee of the CIS member states took place in Almaty, according to the press service of Kazakhstan’s Financial Monitoring Agency.
The meeting brought together leaders and senior officers from the customs law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.
The Committee serves as a coordinating body aimed at strengthening cooperation among CIS countries in preventing and combating customs violations.
Delegates discussed current challenges in tackling smuggling, including emerging trends in international trade, the use of modern technologies, and evolving methods of illicit goods trafficking.
Special attention was given to enhancing international collaboration, sharing best practices, and developing joint measures to combat smuggling and safeguard the economic security of CIS member states.
