Azerbaijan Keeps Pressing Armenia for Landmine Maps

Azerbaijan will continue to firmly demand the transfer of landmine maps for the liberated territories from Armenia in 2026, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a press conference reviewing the results of 2025.

"Armenians claim that they do not have landmine maps and that all such maps have already been handed over. As a result, the situation with mines remains quite complicated. Landmines were planted in many areas during 2021-2023," FM Bayramov noted, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.

"In addition, hundreds of thousands of mines have been buried in Azerbaijani territories since 2020. The complete and safe removal of these mines does not appear possible in the short term and requires long-term, planned operations," the minister added.
