Azerbaijan Nearly Doubles Direct Investment in Georgia in Q1

Azerbaijan significantly boosted its direct investment in Georgia in the first quarter of 2025, nearly doubling the amount invested compared to the same period last year, according to data from Georgia's National Statistics Office.

From January through March, Azerbaijan's investment in the Georgian economy reached $25 million, a 96.8 percent increase from $12.7 million in the first quarter of 2024, The Caspian Post reports citing local media.

The surge made Azerbaijan the fifth-largest foreign investor in Georgia for the quarter, accounting for 13.9 percent of all foreign direct investment (FDI) received during the period.

Total foreign direct investment in Georgia fell to $179 million in the first quarter, marking a 7.7 percent decline compared to the same period last year.

Azerbaijan invested a total of $70.7 million in Georgia throughout 2024.
