Azerbaijan has extradited a Pakistani citizen, who was on an international wanted list, to Tajikistan.
The extradition request submitted by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Tajikistan for Insaf Sobia, a Pakistani national born in 1989, was granted in order to bring him to criminal responsibility, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.
Sobia, who was wanted on fraud charges in Tajikistan, was located and detained in Azerbaijan in February 2026. A preventive detention measure was subsequently imposed on him.
The extradition was carried out in accordance with the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Cases dated October 7, 2002.
Following the decision, Sobia was handed over to Tajik authorities under the escort of a special convoy from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Justice Penitentiary Service.
