A total of 68 families, comprising 252 people, have been resettled in Khidirli village in Azerbaijan’s Aghdam district, receiving the keys to their newly constructed homes.
The returning residents expressed deep gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, and the Azerbaijani Army for their support, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
They also honored the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Following the Second Karabakh war, Azerbaijan regained control over territories that had been under occupation for nearly three decades. In the aftermath, the Azerbaijani government launched a comprehensive reconstruction and resettlement program to restore infrastructure, housing, and public services in the liberated areas. This initiative, often referred to as the “Great Return,” aims to facilitate the safe and dignified return of displaced Azerbaijani citizens to their ancestral lands, revive local communities, and foster sustainable economic and social development. The program includes building new houses, schools, hospitals, and roads, as well as preserving historical and cultural sites.
