Azerbaijan Sends New Fuel Shipments to Armenia as Transit Trade Continues to Grow

Azerbaijan has dispatched new shipments of diesel fuel to Armenia while also facilitating the transit of Russian grain, underscoring the growing role of regional transport corridors in supporting trade flows.

Azerbaijan exported 1,000 tons of diesel fuel to Armenia in a shipment consisting of 17 railway wagons, The Caspian Post reports via Report.

At the same time, 18 railcars carrying 1,260 tons of grain from Russia were sent to Armenia via Azerbaijan’s transit network. The train departed from the Balajari railway station and headed toward the Boyuk Kasik border crossing.

The latest deliveries add to a steadily growing volume of fuel and goods transported between the countries. To date, more than 13,000 tons of diesel fuel and over 4,000 tons of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline have been exported from Azerbaijan to Armenia.

Azerbaijan has also become an important transit route for Russian goods destined for Armenia. More than 32,000 tons of grain, 7,000 tons of fertilizers, 133 tons of aluminum, 68 tons of buckwheat, and 414 tons of anthracite have already been transported through Azerbaijani territory.

The new shipments follow several earlier deliveries this year. On March 5, a train carrying 1,984 tons of diesel fuel and 135 tons of fertilizers departed from Balajari for Armenia. Additional diesel shipments totaling 887 tons were sent on April 11, while another 479 tons were delivered on May 9.
