The KASIRGA vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) strike drone has been unveiled publicly for the first time at ADEX 2026 in Azerbaijan's capital Baku.

The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was developed by Azerbaijani company Bayraktar Teknoloji, part of Türkiye-based defense company BAYKAR, according to the Turkish defense industry website SavunmaSanayiST.com.

The KASIRGA has a maximum takeoff weight of 33 kilograms. Its vertical takeoff and landing capability allows it to operate without a conventional runway.

The drone uses autonomous flight, visual positioning and sensor data fusion for navigation and control. It has an operational range of 60-90 kilometers and can reach a maximum speed of 222 km/h. The aircraft has a height and wingspan of 1.7 meters.

In kamikaze mode, KASIRGA identifies its target and dives toward it, using a 5-kilogram warhead to destroy the target.

In reconnaissance and surveillance mode, the drone uses an electro-optical camera to gather intelligence. After completing its mission, it can return to its base.

With its combination of strike, reconnaissance and return-to-base capabilities, KASIRGA offers more functionality than conventional one-way attack drones.
