Türkiye has detained 34 suspects in an operation targeting a network accused of selling drugs through social media and online classified platforms.

The operation was carried out by police in Nevşehir following four months of technical surveillance. Investigators determined that the network shipped drugs to different provinces across Türkiye using courier services and the postal system, TRT Haber reports.

Drugs were smuggled into the country from abroad by being concealed inside people’s bodies.

Acting on instructions from the Nevşehir Prosecutor’s Office, 214 police officers, supported by three drones and three sniffer dogs, conducted simultaneous searches at 36 addresses in Nevşehir, Istanbul, Izmir and Antalya.

Police seized 2.767 kilograms of synthetic drugs, 632 grams of marijuana and 789 synthetic tablets, along with four electronic scales. Police also confiscated 90,020 Turkish liras, 990,000 Iranian rials and €1,320 in cash.

Of 34 people detained, 10 were released after questioning by police. Investigative procedures against the remaining 24 suspects are continuing.
