Azerbaijani FM Extends Condolences Over Khamenei Death

On March 1, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi to discuss the situation stemming from military operations in Iran and the broader regional escalation.

During the call, the Iranian side provided details on the current developments and measures being undertaken, The Caspian Post reports, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

Bayramov expressed deep concern over the tragic escalation in the region and conveyed condolences over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, as well as other innocent civilians.

Both ministers voiced hope for an immediate end to hostilities and stressed the importance of resolving the crisis exclusively through political and diplomatic means, in line with international law.

The Azerbaijani side also underscored that no country would be allowed to use Azerbaijani territory against neighbouring and friendly Iran.

The discussion also covered other issues of mutual interest.
