Young Azerbaijani wrestlers have showcased remarkable success at the Universiade of Turkic-Speaking States in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, capturing a total of eight medals - four gold, two silver, and two bronze.
The gold medals were claimed by Roman Karimov (67 kg), Ashraf Ashirov (86 kg), Yusif Dursunov (125 kg), and Vedat Gasimli (60 kg). Musa Aghayev (65 kg) and Ali Guliyev (97 kg) secured silver, while Ramik Heybatov (74 kg) and Javad Mammadov (77 kg) took bronze, The Caspian Post informs via local media.
With this impressive medal haul, Azerbaijan’s Greco-Roman wrestling team secured first place in the overall standings, while the freestyle team earned second place, underscoring the country’s growing strength in the sport.
