Chinese automaker BYD has named Vasif Aliyev as its sales director for the Caucasus region, overseeing operations in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia.

Vasif Aliyev is a well-known professional in Azerbaijan’s automotive sector, with extensive experience in sales, marketing and business development.

In his new role, Aliyev will be responsible for coordinating relations and sales activities between BYD and its official importers across the Caucasus region.

Currently, BYD’s official partners in Azerbaijan are Group Motors and Sarda Group. Following Aliyev’s appointment, relations between these companies, BYD’s official importers in Georgia and Armenia, and the manufacturer regarding regional sales activities will be coordinated within the framework of the newly established management structure.

The new sales director’s responsibilities will include implementing BYD’s sales strategy across the regional markets, developing cooperation with official importers, establishing sales approaches tailored to the specific characteristics of each market and strengthening the brand’s regional position.

Aliyev has more than 14 years of management experience in sales, marketing and business development within Azerbaijan’s automotive sector.

He spent 10 years at Nurgun Motors, where he held senior positions leading the company’s automotive sales and marketing departments. During his tenure, Aliyev gained extensive experience in managing sales processes, developing marketing strategies and positioning automotive brands in the local market.

For the past four years, Aliyev served as head of business development and marketing at Auto Azerbaijan, the official importer of Hyundai, GAC Motor and JAC Truck in Azerbaijan. In this role, he led initiatives aimed at expanding the company’s business opportunities, managing marketing activities for the represented automotive brands, developing new projects and implementing sales strategies.

Aliyev is also a board member of the Azerbaijan Automobile Dealers Association.

BYD’s appointment of a dedicated sales director for the Caucasus will enable the company to manage relations with official importers in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia through a unified regional coordination mechanism. The new model is expected to contribute to sales planning, market strategy development and more efficient communication between the manufacturer and its official partners across the region.
