Germany is preparing to send a business delegation to Azerbaijan's capital Baku to explore new partnership opportunities in infrastructure development, electric transport and energy storage technologies for renewable energy projects.

The business mission is scheduled for December 7-10, 2026, The Caspian Post reports, citing the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan).

The visit will be organized under the German Energy Export Initiative, implemented on behalf of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

The delegation’s program will include one-on-one B2B meetings with potential Azerbaijani partners, presentations of German technology solutions at an industry conference, and a roundtable for business leaders.

Participants are also expected to visit specialized facilities and projects to gain first-hand insight into Azerbaijan’s infrastructure and renewable energy landscape.

The visit could open new opportunities for German companies seeking to expand into Azerbaijan’s growing clean-energy and transport technology markets.

The upcoming business mission follows several initiatives aimed at strengthening economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany.

A second German-Azerbaijani conference on export financing is also scheduled to take place in October.

Meanwhile, during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Germany on July 21, the two countries signed a joint declaration establishing and regulating the Azerbaijani-German Business Council.

The council is designed to provide a permanent platform for direct dialogue between government institutions and business communities in both countries.

Despite efforts to deepen economic ties, bilateral trade declined during the first half of 2026.

According to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee, trade turnover between the two countries fell 25.33% year-on-year, or by $194.352 million, to $572.89 million.

Azerbaijan’s exports to Germany totaled $234.778 million, down 26.7% from a year earlier, while German exports to Azerbaijan stood at $338.111 million, representing a 24.35% decline.
