A remarkable archaeological discovery has been made in Agdash village of Azerbaijan’s Jalilabad district, where clay vessels believed to date back to the Bronze Age were uncovered during road construction work.

The artifacts were discovered as workers carried out excavation and earthmoving operations for a new road. Several ceramic vessels and jugs were recovered from beneath the ground, according to Report.

Vafa Mahmudova, chief research fellow at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), said a preliminary assessment suggests the artifacts date to the Late Bronze Age-Early Iron Age period.

The discovery could provide valuable insights into the history and settlement patterns of the region during an important period of ancient civilization.

Relevant authorities have been informed about the findings.

Additional archaeological investigations are expected to be carried out at the site to determine whether more ancient artifacts remain underground and to establish a more precise date for the newly discovered materials.
