Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Nurlan Yermekbayev has said that Azerbaijan and Armenia are active dialogue partners of SCO.
He noted that both countries actively participate not only in broader cooperation initiatives but also in joint events held within the SCO framework, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
Commenting on Azerbaijan and Armenia’s aspirations to elevate their status in the organization, Yermekbayev emphasized that the admission of new members requires the consensus of all SCO member states. “At present, all submitted applications are under consideration by the member states,” he noted.
Currently, Azerbaijan holds the status of an SCO dialogue partner and has officially applied to upgrade its role to that of an observer state.
