The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) are working on new projects in Azerbaijan, Türkiye and third countries, Türkiye’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said at the 5th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum in Baku.
Bayraktar said the two countries’ energy partnership, which has traditionally focused mainly on oil and natural gas, has expanded in recent years to include the electricity sector, The Caspian Post reports.
“Meanwhile, discussions continue on SOCAR and TPAO exploration projects in Türkiye and Azerbaijan, which began last year with the Shafag-Asiman project and continue with the Karabakh project, as well as projects that SOCAR will jointly implement in Türkiye and third countries,” Bayraktar said.
He added that the two sides plan to present conceptual projects covering these areas.
