Construction workers building a new park in Azerbaijan's Jalilabad district have uncovered ancient artifacts, prompting archaeologists to investigate the site.

The discovery was made during earthworks in an area locally known as "Nar Bagi" ("Pomegranate Garden"). Among the items unearthed were large storage jars and other material-cultural artifacts believed to date back to an ancient period, The Caspian Post reports via Report.

Specialists from the Azerbaijani Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology are currently examining the excavation site to assess the significance of the findings.

Experts say it is still too early to determine the exact age and historical value of the artifacts. A definitive conclusion will be made only after detailed archaeological and laboratory analyses have been completed.
