Hayrapetyan Kamo Eduardovich, an Armenian-origin resident of Karabakh, testified as a witness in the ongoing trial of Ruben Vardanyan, an Armenian citizen accused of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, terrorism, financing terrorism, and other grave offenses under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The witness stated that after Ruben Vardanyan’s arrival in Khankendi, mining operations were carried out with his financial support along the borders of territories liberated by Azerbaijan during the 44-day war, The Caspian Post reports, citing AZERTAC.
He emphasized that these mines were transported from Armenia to Karabakh via the Lachin corridor. “Armenians living in Khankendi were also aware that mining activities in Karabakh significantly increased after Ruben Vardanyan’s arrival. Informational posters about these mines were placed in schools, around buildings, in forests, and near vacant areas. However, there were no such warnings about mines before the 44-day war,” the witness added.
The trial will resume on March 18.
