A delegation of international travelers from the prestigious Most Traveled People (MTP) club commenced their visit to Azerbaijan’s Karabakh and East Zangezur regions with an inaugural stop in Fuzuli.
The group was introduced to the operations of the newly restored Fuzuli International Airport and received briefings on the extensive damage sustained by the area during the Armenian occupation, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
Travelers were also informed about Azerbaijan’s state-led “Great Return” program, highlighting ongoing reconstruction and development projects in the liberated territories.
Led by American Charles Veley, founder of MTP, the delegation comprises travelers from 15 countries. Over the course of three days, they will visit a broad itinerary including Khojavend, Shusha, Khankendi, Khojaly, Aghdam, Kalbajar, Lachin, Zangilan, and Jabrayil.
The visit aims to promote awareness of the liberated regions through “black tourism”, a form of travel focused on sites marked by recent conflict and recovery. It also seeks to showcase the extensive rebuilding efforts underway.
Over the last four years, Karabakh and East Zangezur have attracted international visitors on 13 separate occasions from leading global travel clubs, underscoring growing global interest in the region’s restoration.
