Armenian, Georgian Discuss TRIPP Project

Following the official welcoming ceremony for the Armenian president, who arrived in Tbilisi on an official visit, a private meeting took place between Presidents Vahagn Khachaturyan and Mikheil Kavelashvili.

This was followed by an expanded meeting with the participation of delegations, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.

During the discussions, the sides reviewed the current dynamics of cooperation within the framework of the Armenia-Georgia strategic partnership and outlined directions for its further development.

Special attention was paid to strengthening economic ties, developing transport and communication links and advancing joint initiatives in tourism, energy, the business environment, investment, as well as educational, cultural and youth programs.

President Khachaturyan presented the progress of preparations for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, to be held in Armenia in 2026, and the 8th Summit of the European Political Community, highlighting Georgia’s participation in these events.

The meeting also touched upon regional developments. President Khachaturyan briefed his counterpart on the outcomes of the trilateral meeting held in Washington on August 8 and the potential economic impact of unblocking regional infrastructure.

The sides exchanged views on establishing peace in the South Caucasus, the unblocking of transport routes and logistics corridors, including the TRIPP project. They also discussed possible mechanisms for operating channels that would provide Georgia with access to the Persian Gulf and the Gyumri-Kars railway, which could further strengthen the Europe-Central Asia transport hub.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue joint efforts toward strengthening peace, stability, and mutually beneficial cooperation.
