Pundit: C6 Nations May Unite in Military Production

Joint cooperation among C6 countries in the military and defense industry has been proposed as a new avenue for regional collaboration.

The initiative was voiced by Talgat Kaliyev, member of Kazakhstan’s National Kurultai under the President, during the international conference “C6: One Region, Shared Future - Enhancing Strategic Dialogue” in Baku, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

From Resources to Technology

Kaliyev stressed that Central Asian countries should move beyond simply exporting raw materials and instead leverage their resources in exchange for advanced technologies.

“Today, we have an opportunity not just to sell resources, but to provide them in return for technologies,” he said, emphasizing the need to continuously strengthen the region’s production and technological base while investing in human capital.

He underlined the importance of enhancing regional security and defense capabilities, including the development of processing industries and advanced manufacturing.

Military Robotics and Strategic Partnerships

Kaliyev suggested that C6 countries could organize production of defense-oriented robotic systems and other high-tech equipment, drawing on the experience of Türkiye and China. At the same time, he noted the importance of maintaining strong ties with the European Union and the United States.

Building Institutions and Youth Programs

The expert also highlighted the need for stronger institutional frameworks within the C6 format. He noted that more flexible and effective mechanisms should be developed, along with joint youth programs designed to encourage students educated abroad to return home.
