18th-Century Nakhchivan Carpet to Be Returned to Azerbaijan from Italy

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture has signed an agreement with the collector to purchase the carpet, which will join the collection of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum. Under the agreement, the carpet is valued at 131,000 AZN, The Caspian Post reports citing AZERTAC.

Many rare and ancient Azerbaijani carpets are preserved in museums and private collections across Italy. The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum maintains close cooperation with leading Italian museums and galleries.

To date, numerous rare and historically significant artworks have been purchased from Mirco Cattai and presented to the museum, further enriching its collection.
