Azerbaijan Participates in International Folklore Festival in Estonia

An Azerbaijani cultural program was showcased at the International Folklore Festival in the Estonian town of Viljandi.

The annual folk music festival, which gathers musicians, dancers, and enthusiasts from all around the world, is considered one of the most significant cultural events in Northern Europe, The Caspian Post reports citing AZERTAC.

The program featured the performance by the Natig Rhythm group, led by the People's Artist of Azerbaijan Natig Shirinov. Using national percussion instruments, the dance group performed folk music pieces. The group’s program included works based on the synthesis of traditional mugham elements and rhythmic forms of modern ethnomusicology.

The event also offered a chance to explore an exhibition by “Buta” and its art studio, featuring decorative and applied arts, national ornaments, folk costumes, and crafts. Master classes were also held, providing guests with hands-on opportunities to engage with various aspects of national culture.

Artist Rovshan Nur’s creating an artistic performance by painting "Natig’s music" in real-time during the performance by the Natig Rythm group added another dimension to the event.
