The "Alliance" Youth Center in Tbilisi hosted an event to celebrate Azerbaijan National Music Day and the 140th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, as part of the projects by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Before the event, a masterpiece of the great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli - the National Anthem of Azerbaijan - was performed, The Caspian Post reports citing AZERTAC.
Then, the head of the center, Leyla Amrahova, spoke about the life path of the great composer, his rich creative legacy and scholarly contributions, highlighting his significant role in the development of Azerbaijan’s national music.
She noted that Uzeyir Hajibeyli was also recognized as a 20th-century publicist, the founder of Azerbaijani opera, a writer, and a lexicographer.
Samir Abdurahimov, advisor at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Georgia, delivered a speech congratulating fellow Azerbaijanis on the occasion of National Music Day.
The diplomat noted that on February 3, 2025, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, signed a decree to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibeyli.
He added that holding the anniversary at a high level is an important step in appreciating Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s legacy and passing it on to future generations.
Abdurahimov emphasized that Azerbaijani national music is a unifying and uplifting force for the people.
Subsequently, the event continued with a musical program.
