Kazakhstan Brings Soul of Mountains to Qatar’s Biggest Travel Show

From snow-capped peaks to vibrant culinary traditions, Kazakhstan is unveiling the heart and soul of its tourism appeal at the Qatar Travel Mart 2024. Represented by its crown jewel - the city of Almaty - Kazakhstan is capturing the attention of global tour operators and travel industry leaders with a powerful showcase of natural beauty, cultural richness, and year-round adventure.

From November 25 to 27, Doha will host the spectacular Qatar Travel Mart, a major exhibition where countries from around the world showcase their top travel destinations, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

So, which resort has Kazakhstan chosen to fully reveal its potential to international travelers? Naturally, it’s Almaty - the only city from Central Asia featured in The New York Times’ list of the best travel destinations for 2024. Almaty is an ideal destination to visit any time of the year.

Qatar Travel Mart aims to establish itself as a premier platform for travel and tourism, bringing together leading global destinations to showcase the latest trends in sports tourism, business travel, cultural experiences, luxury and medical tourism, as well as halal travel.

The event will unite hotels, tour operators, agencies, cruise lines, and technology companies, providing international buyers and visitors with the opportunity to explore Qatar’s offerings and include the country in their travel plans.

Visit Almaty believes that this platform is the perfect opportunity to introduce Almaty to world-class tour operators and agencies, especially as the ski season approaches.

One of Almaty’s key advantages for discerning tourists from the Persian Gulf region is its rich variety of national cuisine, with most establishments adhering to halal standards.

"This is a city with an open heart and a generous soul. For many years, 124 ethnic groups have lived here in peace and mutual respect," said representatives from Visit Almaty.

"Looking for halal dishes? In Almaty, you'll never have to skip breakfast, lunch, or dinner - and there’s every reason to accept invitations to try the country's national delicacies. Moreover, as the gastronomic capital of Central Asia, Almaty offers a vibrant fusion of flavors - from Mexican, Vietnamese, and American to German, Chinese, Arab, Russian, Indian, and many others."

Throughout the entire history of Kazakhstan’s independence, Almaty has remained the greenest city in the country. Known as the "garden city," Almaty boasts two trees for each of its two million residents. And by 2030, an additional 2.5 million saplings are set to be planted - a vision sure to captivate the hearts of those from desert regions.

But Almaty’s greatest treasure is, without a doubt, its majestic mountains. The city is surrounded by more than 15 mountain peaks reaching up to 5,000 meters in height, 40 alpine lakes, 30 mountain rivers, 20 waterfalls, and is home to 225 species of wild animals - including several listed in the Red Book - and 172 species of birds.

In just 30 minutes from the city center, you can find yourself at the foot of the Tian Shan Mountains. From there, you can hike to glaciers where snowball fights are possible even in the peak of summer, explore alpine meadows, and still make it back in time for lunch at one of Almaty’s stylish city restaurants. Later, you can completely switch gears and head off to explore a canyon carved from sedimentary rock that's over 12 million years old.

Without question, Almaty is the ideal city to represent Kazakhstan at an exhibition where decision-makers from local and international tourism authorities gather - a unique opportunity to increase the country’s visibility in Qatar and throughout the Gulf region.
