EBRD Grants $20 Million Loan to Tashkent Pipe Plant for Production Expansion

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will extend a $20 million loan to the Tashkent Pipe Plant (TTP), one of Uzbekistan’s leading private steel manufacturers, to boost the company’s production capacity.

The financing will provide TTP with the necessary working capital and allow the company to increase production of large-diameter insulated pipes (LDIP), The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

TTP will purchase raw materials for applying protective insulation to water pipes and modernize the corresponding equipment.

TTP is the only manufacturer of insulated LDIP in Uzbekistan. These pipes are widely used in water supply systems, mining operations, residential and commercial infrastructure, as well as in major infrastructure projects such as bridges, roads, and overpasses.

The advanced insulation technology to be introduced under the project will extend the lifespan of the pipes from the current 15-20 years to 50 years, offering significant long-term benefits through environmentally friendly infrastructure and substantial water savings nationwide.

By improving the durability of water pipes and reducing water loss, the project will help enhance access to drinking water and contribute to the country’s sustainable infrastructure.
