Trade turnover between Russia and Kazakhstan rose by more than 15% during January-May 2026, surpassing $12.2 billion.

Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Vladimir Ilyichev announced the figures on Friday during the 22nd Forum of Interregional Cooperation between the Regions of the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan, The Caspian Post reports, citing TASS.

"Trade between our countries is developing quite well, despite the current events and some of the challenges we face. Nevertheless, our trade turnover increased by more than 15% in January-May of this year, exceeding $12.2 billion," Ilyichev said.

He added that the current pace of growth makes it possible to reach the bilateral trade turnover target of $30 billion before 2030. Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Trade and Integration, Aidar Abildabekov, also stated that trade between the two countries exceeded $27 billion in 2025.

According to Abildabekov, bilateral trade also recorded growth during the first five months of 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier. He emphasized that Russia and Kazakhstan remain on course toward achieving the previously established goal of increasing annual trade turnover to $30 billion, a target set by the two countries' presidents.
