Russia, Kazakhstan Launch High-Level Talks on Strategic Partnership

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev have begun official negotiations aimed at deepening cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan.

The talks, held in Astana, are expected to conclude with the signing of a cooperation roadmap between the two foreign ministries for 2027-2028, along with an entry in the honorary guest book, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Opening the discussions, Lavrov emphasized the depth and intensity of bilateral ties.

“Our relations are highly dynamic and multifaceted. Most importantly, they contribute to maintaining stability across the wider Eurasian space,” he said.

He added that nearly all areas of cooperation are now covered by ongoing intergovernmental dialogue, reflecting the scale of the partnership.

The Russian foreign minister noted that cooperation spans key sectors including investment, energy, transport, humanitarian exchanges, and coordination on international platforms.

The relationship between Moscow and Astana continues to be described as strategically important, with both sides maintaining active engagement across multiple levels.

Lavrov last visited Kazakhstan in April 2025, when he attended a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers.
