Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, met with bp’s Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye, Giovanni Cristofoli, to discuss the development of long-term and effective energy partnership.
The sides exchanged views on the current state of collaboration in the oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors, as well as the implementation of joint projects, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Energy Ministry.
In this regard, the meeting reviewed measures carried out under the projects aimed at stabilizing oil production at the Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) field and developing the free gas project at ACG.
The progress and future prospects of the “Shafag-Asiman,” “Shah Deniz Compression,” “Qarabagh,” and “Ashrafi-Dan Ulduzu-Aypara” (ADUA) projects were also evaluated.
The meeting also discussed the construction of the 240 MW Shafag Solar Power Plant. The project was highly valued as an early indication of bp’s contribution to the reconstruction of Azerbaijan’s liberated territories. It was noted that the project exemplifies Azerbaijan’s ongoing energy transition efforts by ensuring the electrification of the Sangachal terminal.
Azerbaijan’s strategic role as a bridge between the energy resources of the Caspian Sea and Central Asia and the European market was emphasized, and opportunities to further strengthen this advantage through cooperation were explored.
