Kazakhstan Plans to Boost Oil Exports to Germany by 1.5 Times in 2025 to 2.2 Million Tonnes

Kazakhstan is in talks with its partners to export up to 2.2 million tonnes of oil to Germany in 2025, said Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov.

This amount is nearly 1.5-fold larger than the previously announced forecast by KazMunayGas (KMG) of 1.5 million tonnes of oil supplies to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline this year (matching 2024 export volumes), The Caspian Post reports citing Interfax.

The Energy Ministry said German partners were interested in importing up to 2.5 million tonnes of Kazakh oil annually.

However, no agreements have yet been reached on increasing volumes or pricing, Akkenzhenov said. "KMG should provide more specific details on the plans for increasing supplies. These are commercial matters," he said.

Kazakhstan has been supplying oil to Germany since 2023 through the trunk pipeline system of PJSC Transneft towards the Adamova Zastava delivery point. Previously, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the country is ready to increase oil exports to the German market.

According to KazTransOil (part of KMG), the amount of Kazakh oil supplied via the Uzen-Atyrau-Samara trunk pipeline into Transneft's pipeline system for further delivery to Germany reached 377,000 tonnes in January-March 2025, up 25.7% compared to the same period last year.
