A teenager has died after a shooting in Tbilisi, Georgia, where four people were wounded before the suspected gunman was arrested following a police manhunt.

According to investigators, the suspect opened fire with a firearm on July 22, injuring four people, including two minors, before fleeing the scene, The Caspian Post reports via the Georgian Interior Ministry's message on Facebook.

All victims were taken to hospital, but one of the injured minors later died from their wounds.

Police tracked down and detained the suspect during a search operation. The man offered armed resistance during the arrest and suffered injuries to his fingers.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 19-109 of Georgia's Criminal Code, which covers the attempted intentional murder under aggravating circumstances. The offense carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment if convicted.
