Georgian police officers have arrested two people accused of producing and storing counterfeit Jack Daniel's whiskey in a scheme aimed at making illegal profits.

Law enforcement officers seized 300 bottles of fake Jack Daniel's with an estimated value of 22,400 lari ($8,518) during the operation, The Caspian Post reports via Sputnik Georgia.

According to investigators, the suspects manufactured counterfeit alcohol bearing the Jack Daniel's trademark and stored the products at a warehouse owned by one of the detainees before they were discovered by police officers.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 196, Part 3 of Georgia's Criminal Code, which covers the unlawful use of a trademark or other commercial designation. If convicted, the suspects face three to five years in prison.
