Georgia welcomed more travelers from Kazakhstan in the first half of 2026, highlighting the country's growing popularity among Kazakh tourists despite broader declines in international arrivals.

Some 66,526 visitors from Kazakhstan traveled to the country between January and June 2026, representing a 6% increase compared with the same period last year, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

Kazakhstan ranked as Georgia's seventh-largest source market for international visitors, following Russia, Türkiye, Armenia, Israel, Azerbaijan, and Ukraine.

Overall, Georgia recorded 2.73 million international visits during the first six months of 2026, down 2.7% year over year. However, the number of tourist visits remained resilient, rising slightly by 0.1% to 2.27 million.

Among Georgia's major tourism markets, Kazakhstan was one of the fastest-growing, alongside Germany (+26.2%), Ukraine (+22.7%), Poland (+17.4%), and China (+16.7%).

Meanwhile, arrivals from Iran dropped sharply by 48.7%, while visitor numbers also declined from Israel (-14.4%), Armenia (-8%), Uzbekistan (-4%), and Türkiye (-1.5%).

Georgian officials attributed the overall decline in international visits to heightened security concerns in the Middle East and disruptions to regional air travel.

At the same time, travel from European Union countries and the United Kingdom surged by 23%, reaching 249,201 visitors during the reporting period.
