Fire Breaks Out at Opposition TV Channel’s Office in Georgia’s Tbilisi

A fire has broken out at the office of Formula, an opposition television channel in Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi, forcing the broadcaster to interrupt its live transmission.

The incident occurred at the channel’s building on Vazha-Pshavela Avenue, TASS reports.

“We are sorry, friends, but we have to take an advertising break. We are in emergency mode. There is smoke in our building,” Formula presenter Irakli Kiknavelidze said during a live broadcast.

Another opposition broadcaster, Mtavari Arkhi, later published photographs showing smoke rising from the building.

The television channel’s broadcast was interrupted. No information about possible casualties has been reported so far.
