A fire has broken out at the headquarters of Liberty Bank in Tbilisi, Georgia, triggering a major emergency response but leaving no one injured.
The blaze ignited at the bank’s main office on Chavchavadze Avenue, reportedly starting inside a freight elevator shaft. Thick smoke was seen rising from the building as firefighters rushed to contain the flames, The Caspian Post reports via Armenian media.
Temur Mgebrišvili, head of Georgia’s Emergency Management Service, said that around 20 firefighting and rescue crews were deployed to the scene. Crews quickly brought the situation under control, preventing the fire from spreading into office spaces.
“The ignition occurred in the freight elevator shaft. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and the fire was successfully put out,” Mgebrišvili said.
In an official statement, Liberty Bank assured customers that the incident poses no threat to its operations. Banking services are expected to continue as usual.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
