Georgia’s Foreign Ministry has summoned Iranian Ambassador Seyed Ali Moujani Ghomi over his social media posts concerning Queen Ketevan.

Georgia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Khvtisiashvili said the Iranian diplomat’s publications go beyond the scope of his diplomatic mandate and are negatively affecting public sentiment in Georgia, according to Sputnik Georgia.

Khvtisiashvili stressed that diplomats should respect diplomatic norms and refrain from making interpretations concerning the history and domestic affairs of their host country.

He added that Georgia expects the Iranian side to take appropriate measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

The move follows a post by Moujani featuring an image of Georgian Queen Ketevan projected onto the facade of the Iranian Embassy. The ambassador also said he would soon present the findings of his preliminary research into the historical figure.
