Georgia Eyes Bigger Trade Deal with China by Late 2025

The Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development has announced that negotiations to expand the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Georgia and China are expected to conclude by the end of 2025.

The announcement was made during the second meeting of the Joint Commission on the Georgia-China FTA held in Beijing, The Caspian Post reports via the ministry.

The Georgian delegation was led by Genadi Arveladze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, while the Chinese side was represented by Vice Minister of Commerce Yan Tong.

Since its implementation in 2018, the FTA has played a key role in deepening bilateral trade and investment ties. At the meeting, both sides discussed opportunities to broaden cooperation across various sectors.

“Georgia is ready to enhance cooperation with China across various sectors, including trade. The Free Trade Agreement has already played a crucial role in promoting trade, strengthening business relations, and creating new opportunities,” said Arveladze.
