Georgia’s State Security Service (SSS) has launched a criminal investigation under the article “Sabotage” following widespread power outages across the country on July 24 and 25.

The investigation was opened in connection with multiple electricity disruptions that affected different parts of Georgia, The Caspian Post reports, citing Sputnik Georgia.

“The investigation is being conducted in connection with multiple power outages across the country, which imply a threat to the interests of the Georgian state by disrupting, damaging, or destroying the normal operation of an enterprise or other important facility,” the SSS said in an official statement.

The agency added that it would provide updates to the public on the progress of the investigation in stages.
