A court in Tbilisi has sentenced two Ukrainian citizens to prison terms of 7 and 10 years after finding them guilty of illegally importing, possessing, and transferring explosive materials, as well as possessing a large quantity of cocaine.
In September 2025 one of the defendants transported 2.4 kilograms of explosives from Ukraine to Georgia through Türkiye using a truck, The Caspian Post reports, citing Georgian media.
The explosives were later handed over to the second suspect.
Both individuals were arrested during the transfer operation.
Investigators said the truck driver had been acting on instructions received from an unidentified person in Ukraine.
Authorities have not yet determined whether Georgia was intended to be the final destination for the explosives or merely a transit route.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers also confiscated eight mobile phones, a significant amount of cash, and various computer devices.
