From January to September 2025, Georgia imported $28 million worth of cigarettes from Azerbaijan, marking a 33 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Azerbaijan ranks second among cigarette-exporting countries to Georgia. In September alone, Georgia purchased $5 million worth of cigarettes from Azerbaijan, 47 per cent more than a year earlier, The Caspian Post reports via the Georgian National Statistics Office.
Overall, in the first nine months of 2025, Georgia imported cigarettes from all foreign countries totaling $115 million, which is 6 per cent lower than the same period in 2024.
In 2024, Georgia’s total cigarette imports reached $158.6 million, with $32.2 million coming from Azerbaijan, highlighting the country’s growing role as a key supplier.
