Germany Suspends €237 Million Worth of Projects with Georgia

Germany has suspended projects totaling €237 million with Georgia, following concerns over the country's departure from its EU integration path and actions taken against protests.

German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer announced this on X, The Caspian Post reports.

Fischer outlined several halted initiatives, including green hydrogen, energy infrastructure projects, and water infrastructure financing in Batumi. He stated, “Germany has, with regret, suspended projects worth 237 million euros with Georgia. The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and Minister Svenia Schulze are responding to Georgia's departure from the EU path and the harsh measures taken against protest actions."

Despite these suspensions, Fischer confirmed that support for civil society and the rule of law in Georgia would continue.
