Peskov: Russia Refuses to Comply with European Court Ruling on Compensation to Georgia

Russia will not comply with the European Court of Human Rights' (ECHR) ruling ordering Moscow to pay compensation to Georgia, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated during a briefing on Tuesday.

“We will not implement this decision,” Peskov stated, The Caspian Post reports citing Georgian Today.

When asked whether the payment could help improve relations between Russia and Georgia, Peskov said that “this is a separate issue.”

“We consider it a separate issue,” he added.

Georgia’s Ministry of Justice reported that on October 14, 2025, the ECHR announced its decision in the Georgia v. Russia (IV) case, also known as the “ongoing occupation” case. The Court ruled that Russia must pay more than €253 million in compensation to Georgia.
