Diplomat Courtney Austrian will take over the duties of the US ambassador to Georgia, replacing Amy Diaz, who has returned to her previous position as deputy chief of mission.
The US Embassy in Georgia said Diaz, who was appointed to the ambassadorial post in late July, has resumed her role as deputy chief of mission, according to the US embassy in Georgia.
Austrian is a veteran US diplomat with nearly 30 years of experience at the Department of State. Since August 2023, she has served as director of one of the offices within the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
Previously, from 2020 to 2023, Austrian served as deputy chief of mission and acting US representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna.
