On the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi.

The two ministers exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral issues, as well as developments in the region, The Caspian Post reports, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

They stressed the importance of maintaining regular high-level contacts, mutual respect and good-neighborly relations between Azerbaijan and Iran.

Bayramov and Araghchi also highlighted the August 2026 meeting between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran in Bishkek, describing it as another important step toward further expanding bilateral cooperation.

The foreign ministers additionally discussed regional security, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in advancing peace and stability.
