Thick plumes of black smoke were seen rising over Tehran, Iran on March 16 morning.

The explosions occurred around the same time the Israel Defense Forces announced it had launched a series of strikes targeting infrastructure in the Iranian capital, The Caspian Post reports via foreign media.

According to statements attributed to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Israeli fighter jets struck Mehrabad International Airport, one of the country’s busiest aviation hubs located in Tehran.
