A US MQ-9-type drone was reportedly shot down over the central Iranian city of Khomein in Markazi province on Tuesday.

The drone was downed by Iranian air defense systems, The Caspian Post reports, citing Tasnim news agency.

No further details were provided.

The incident came after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces had begun striking targets belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
